Installing K-Secure VPN™ Client

K-Secure VPN™ Client comes with an easy-to-use installer. Simply launch the installer; keep clicking Next and finally Finish. The product is installed!

Minimum Requirements

  • Pentium or better PC;
  • Microsoft Windows® 2000 or later operating systems. These include Windows 2000, XP, 2003/2008, Vista, Windows 7 and other variations of the Windows® operating systems;
  • At least 10 MB free disk space;
  • At least 10 MB free memory;
  • 640x480 or higher resolution monitors with at least 16-bit color depth;

Installation

  • Download the latest version from http://k-secure.com/download.php
  • Important: Please make sure the major version of the client matches the major version of the server. For example, if the major version of the server is 3, make sure the major version of the client is also 3. A 2.x.x.x client is not able to communicate with a 3.x.x.x server.
  • Important: If an instance of K-Secure VPN™ Client is currently running, it will be terminated automatically by the installer. Normally this is not a problem. However, if a network application is currently working inside the VPN environment, it may not be able to continue its work. In certain situations data loss may occur. Always ensure clients are shutdown before launching the installer.
  • Launch the setup program and follow the Installation Steps illustrated below.

Silent Installation

In silent installation, no user intervention is required and no user interface is displayed. You will not see any dialog and will not need to answer any questions. This is useful for IT administrators who want to install K-Secure VPN™ Client without user intervention so they can perform installations quickly over a number of computers.

The installer for K-Secure VPN™ Client can be both silent and non-silent. To install K-Secure VPN™ Client silently into the default folder, simply type the following command in the Start->Run box or in a Command Prompt:

SetupKsVpnClient.exe /S
Please note the "/S" is case sensitive and cannot be "/s".

Reboot After Install

If K-Secure VPN™ Client has never been installed on a computer before, there is no need to reboot after installation; otherwise, the installer will determine whether a reboot is necessary. When in doubt, always reboot after the installation is complete.

Installation Steps

  1. The Welcome Page

    The first page shown after launching the installer is the Welcome page. There is nothing to do here - simply make sure this is what you want to install and click Next;

    During the installation, you can click Cancel any time if you decide not to install the program;



  2. License Agreement

    Please carefully review the license terms before clicking I Agree;

    Note: Starting from this page the version number of the K-Secure VPN™ Client is shown at the lower left of the page.



  3. Choose Install Location

    The default install location has been filled in. DO NOT change the Destination Folder MANUALLY - it's easy to make a mistake. If you want to install K-Secure VPN™ Client into a different folder, use the Browse... button to select one.




  4. Choose Start Menu Folder

    The default Start Menu Folder has been filled in. You can enter a different folder name into the edit box.



  5. The Finish Page

    K-Secure VPN™ Client has been installed successfully. Simply click Finish to end the Setup Wizard and start K-Secure VPN™ Client program (if Run K-Secure VPN Client is selected).
