Quick Tutorial

Overview

After a fresh installation of K-Secure VPN Client (hereafter the "client") and K-Secure VPN Server (hereafter the "server"), you need to define VPN Rules on the server side and deploy the rules on the client side before K-Secure VPN is able to protect your network connections.

The tutorial is designed to ease your pain in the initial configurations. After following the steps in this tutorial, you will have a basic understanding of how the rule based VPN protection system works. Examples illustrated in this tutorial will also enable you to easily create new rules of your own.

Our goal in this tutorial is to route all of the web connections on the client machine, i.e. all outbound connections to port 80, through the VPN Client, which in turn forwards such connections to a server via secure channels.

Internet Explorer will be used to test the rule we create in this tutorial. It will be referred to as the "Application Client" and the web server it connects to is called the "Application Server." If you do not use Internet Explorer, please replace it with your favorite Internet browser, e.g. Firefox.

Now, let's get started.

  1. Verify Your VPN Server's External IP and Port
  2. Create a VPN Rule on the Server Side
  3. Import the Rule into the VPN Client
  4. Test the Connections
